An software and web site project to develop a national burial record database - a system that will be useful for Burial Authorities, Genealogists, and the general public, looking to find lost relatives or friends final resting place.

The system will eventually encompass PDA deployment across the UK providing instant updates feed directly to the web site via GPRS.

At present the system can be used by Burial Authorities to upload, control, monitor and amend all burial records. Updated records are immediately sent system wide and interested parties automatically notified.

The front end has payment integration allowing site visitors to join and use many of the functions commonly seen on the likes of Friends Reunited (internal messaging, automatic update notifications, comments, notice boards, and more site specific tools like the ability to leave online tributes and virtual flowers).

The project; to re-design the existing Alex Stewart Assayers website encompassed a full Content Management System (CMS) build.

With over 200 pages including the interactive map which displays the companies world wide offices, controlling the site content using a CMS was imperative.

The CMS allows new pages to be created with the click of a button. Different colour templates where created and loaded into the CMS to reflect the different companies within the group (click to see the Green Agricultural pages).

The CMS encompass full navigation and page management whilst collating RSS feeds from leading industry sites which are displayed along side the companies internal news stories and RSS feeds.

Unlike many content management systems this system creates physical pages rather than using query sting and ids. This method of development is more search engine friendly and reduces the load on the database server.
