3D Visualisation, Rendering and Fly through Case Study:

From the plans we were sent, we began by creating a basic 3D model of the house with the proposed extensions.Our client was applying for planning permission for an extension to a cottage situated in green belt land. The proposed plan included the addition of a front porch as well as a side and rear extension. Our client expected that it would be difficult to obtain the permission they wanted and therefore needed to build a strong case before they applied for planning permission.

They used our architectural rendering services to demonstrate that the proposed extension would not have an adverse effect on the greenbelt. The client provided us with plans of the proposed extensions along with photographs of the existing house and area.

Using the photos that we were sent of the existing house we began to add in the background and foreground of the surrounding area to our new 3D model. At this stage we produced flat images so the client could preview our work so far.

The next stage of our project was to animate the model to create a fly through. This will show the true appearance of the extensions from all angles. The above images show the initial stages of the flythrough and the later stages after backgrounds and foregrounds were added.

It is often very difficult to envisage what an extension or new development will look like from architects plans. A flythrough will not only show you what the building will look like ( internally or externally) but can also be a useful tool when applying for planning permission as you can show your planning department what your proposal will look like.

We usually create our photo realistic images, flythroughs or walkthrough from a combination of architects plans and photos of the existing house or building plot.
